Never 50 percent. California CSLB law says a down payment is 10 percent or $1,000, whichever is less. Ask any fence contractor to show you their state-issued license and bond card, and make sure it belongs to them.
A steel fence post Seth installs instead of the inferior metal posts some contractors buy from the local surplus supplier. It will be the last fence post you ever need.
